2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp.ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
3/4 c. soft butter
2 c. raisins
2 c. pecan halves
3 eggs
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
if making sour milk, use 1 T. vinegar in 1 c. regular milk
need greased bundt pan or large spring form pan, well greased & floured

This a dense heavy cake like pound cake. Preheat oven to 350º. Cream butter & add sugar and eggs till mix is fluffy. Add flour sifted with spices. Add soda into milk and stir to batter. Hint* before you add raisins & pecans shake them into a small bag of flour. This will keep them from sinking to the bottom of the pan. Pour into pan and bake 1 hour until toothpick comes out clean.

This unusual recipe from Grandma Schneider from Germany was a very well guarded secret recipe for many years. She gave it finally to me when I married her grandson. He would ask for this as a Christmas present!
