2 Tbsp butter or margarine
1/4 cup onion
2 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 cups milk
1 cup chicken stock
2 cups fresh asparagus (or frozen)
Cheddar cheese for garnish

Directions:
Directions:
Put butter and onion in saucepan. Saute until clear and soft
Mix in flour, salt and pepper. Add milk and chicken stock. Cook and stir until it boils and thickens.

Cook asparagus in very little water. Drain and chop. Add to sauce. Run through blender if a smooth texture is desired. Serve hot, garnish with grated cheese.
