1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 1/2 cups flour
3 tsp ginger
2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup molasses
2 tsp soda
1 cup boiling water

Carmel Sauce
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 half and half cream
4 tbsp butter
salt
1 tbsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and brown sugar. Add eggs. Combine flour, ginger, and cinnamon. Add flour mixture to the egg mixture alternately with molasses. Dissolve soda in boiling water and add to rest of mixture. Put in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake in preheated 350ºF oven for 40-45 minutes.

Sauce
Mix brown sugar, half and half cream, butter and salt in saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes. Stirring constantly. Once thickened add vanilla and cook for 1 more minute
