Pie Crust- Make 2 of these!
2/3 C Shortening
2 C Flour
1 tsp Salt
8 Tbs Cold Water

Filling-
8-10 Peeled and sliced apples- Macintosh or Cortland work best
1 Tbs Cinnamon
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Stick Butter

Frosting-
1/2 Bag of Powdered Sugar
1/4 C Butter
1 tsp Vanilla

Pie Crust- Make 2
Mix all ingredients except water. Mix with a fork until the size of a pea.
Add water. Stir again with a fork until dough forms into a ball. Put down some flour on counter to set dough on.Then roll out dough with a floured rolling pin. Roll out to the size of a very large cookie sheet. Lay dough out in greased cookie sheet.

Filling-
Lay down apples across the dough.
Sprinkle Sugar and Cinnamon and then lay pats of butter all across the apple filling.
Make second crust for top and lay over the apple mixture. Poke Holes all across the top.

Bake 375º or 400º for 1 Hour.

Frosting- Mix all ingredients with fork or beaters.

While still warm but not hot.... Frost torte. Let chill several hours before serving or serve warm. Our family enjoys it cold!

** You can use Cherry Pie filling and omit the cinnamon,sugar and pats of butter in the filling.
