Canola or Peanut Oil for frying
12 popsicle sticks
6 hot dogs ( cut in half)
2 cups self rising white cornmeal mix
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Splenda
1/2 tsp. black pepper
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup Bud Lite or any other pale beer

Directions:

Pour oil in pan to a 3 inch depth and heat over medium heat to 350º.
Insert sticks into hot dogs and make sure to pat them dry.
Whisk together cornmeal, flour, salt, Splenda and pepper into a large bowl. Make a well in the center and add eggs, milk and beer. Whisk until smooth. (Batter will be thick)
Working with 1 hot dog at a time, dip into the batter and completely cover all sides. Quickley lower into the hot oil and fry until golden brown; about 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
