"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
Round Steak cut thin
1 c Flour
Butter
Onion Powder (NOT Onion Salt)
Garlic Powder (NOT GarlicSalt)
Salt
Pepper
If you do not have any Onion or Garlic Powder and have Onion or Garlic Salt reduce or eliminate using regular salt or the meat will be way to salty.

Directions:
Directions:
Cut your steak into single size serving pieces. Sprinkle meat with Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Salt and Pepper on both sides. Melt enough butter in a large skillet to create a shallow layer of butter to fry your steak. Dredge each piece of steak in the flour; coating both sides with a thick layer of flour. Fry each piece of steak until the flour coating is crisp on both sides. If you have more meat than will fit in your pan all at once cook the meat in as many batches as is necessary. Be sure to add butter for each batch. After all the meat is cooked with a crispy flour coating, add a little water at a time and deglaze the pan. This mixture will be thickened by the flour. Return all the meat to the pan. Staking pieces on top of each other if necessary to get it all in the pan at one time. Then add enough water to barely cover the meat. Simmer on low for at least an hour or until the meat is fork tender. You can also put it in the crock pot on low for 3 to 4 hours. It will make it's own gravy. My favorite way to eat this is with Southern Style Hash browns. Yum!

Personal Notes:
This was always my birthday dinner from Mom. I liked the Southern style hash browns, collard greens and corn bread. It is one of Ted's favorite meals as well. I never fix this without thinking of Mom and Dad. He would eat till he popped. Good memories of our family dinners.
