Notes: When I was a young boy, my favorite place (if I wasn't out in the woods in Germany) was in my mother's kitchen. This was back in the Betty Crocker days when perfect kitchens were spotless and you didn't have appliances on the counter, and the only cookbook in the house was The Betty Crocker Cookbook. My mother would let me help her bake by jobs like stirring or mixing, or some little menial task. My job with the Snickerdoodles was to take the balls of dough and roll them in the sugar. But I would shine with pride when the final dish was served because "I helped." Thanks to my sister Cathi who kept up with this recipe over the years, better than I did.
