Ingredients:
3-4 whole apples
1/4 Brown sugar or Carmel squares
Ground cinnamon
Heavy Duty aluminum foil

Directions:
This is a really fun thing to do around the camp fire or fireplace. It also works in the oven at 350º for 45 minutes and regular aluminum foil will work.
Prepare your coals and separate from the fire. You want fully red coals for this, no flames.
For this I like to use Gala or Pink Lady apples, but any will work. Cut the apple into slices and cut out the core, keeping each apple seperate. Take about 12" of foil and arrange 1 full apple in center peel side down. Place 2 Carmel squares or a mound of brown sugar (about 1 tbsp.) on centermost apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon and reform the apple with Carmel/brown sugar in the center, using the foil to hold it together. Keep the opening at the top to avoid leaks. Repeat with all apple, putting each in its own foil packet.
Place foil packets, opening up, in coals and rotate clockwise every 15 minutes. I prefer to pile the coals in a mound beside the fire. Let cook about 45 minutes. Start checking them when you can smell them. You will want long tongs for this.
Remove from coals when apples are tender and center is melted. Enjoy
