4 T. salted butter

8 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced

1/3 C.granulated sugar

1/3 C. light brown sugar

1 T. freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. apple pie spice

Pinch of salt

1 T. cornstarch

Cold water, if needed

4 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored, and sliced

Directions:

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, apple pie spice and salt. Mix the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Lower the heat to low and add apples. Simmer and bubble gently for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken and reduce and until the apples are fork-tender.

To thicken the sauce, mix 1 T. cornstarch in just enough cold water to dissolve. Increase the heat and stir the cornstarch slurry into the apples.
