Mattie's Chocolate Cookies Recipe

c. shortening
4 squares unsweetened chocolate
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
tsp. salt

1. Melt shortening and chocolate in saucepan over hot water.

2. Beat sugar into melted mixture till no loner grainy.

3. Beat eggs in one at a time, beating in well.

4. Add vanilla, flour, baking powder and salt.

5. Chill in refrigerator 2 to 3 hours.

6. Spoon out by teaspoonful and make into small balls.

7. Roll in powdered sugar.

8. Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes.

9. Cookie will be soft when removed from the oven.
