2 c. sifted flour
4 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t cream of tartar
2 T. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat 450 degrees. Sift together first five ingredients; cut in shortening with pastry blender. Add milk. Stir only enough to moisten dry ingredients. Turn on lightly floured surface, knead gently 6 times. Pat or roll dough to 1 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake on ungreased baking sheet for 10-12 minutes until lightly browned on top.
