1 ham, about 3 lbs
1 onion, quartered
2 lbs carrots, halved
2 lbs red potatoes, quartered
2 lbs rutabagas, peeled and cut into 1 1/2" cubes
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 medium cabbage, halved
Chicken broth, optional

Directions:
Directions:
In a large Dutch oven or soup kettle, place ham, vegetables, salt and pepper. Add water or chicken broth just to cover. Place cabbage in layers on top of ham and vegetables to cover completely. Cover tightly and simmer until all vegetables are tender.
