1/3 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Blend together shortening, sugar, salt and vanilla. Stir in beaten egg. Add flour sifted with soda and the chopped pecans. Roll dough into walnut sized balls and
place on cookie sheets, lightly greased. Top with pecan halves. Bake in moderately hot oven, 375F., for 8 to 10 minutes.
