6 cups fresh medium strawberries
3/4 cups sugar
3 tbsp cornstarch
1 9 inch baked pastry shell

Directions:
Directions:
Glaze: in small saucepan crush 1 cup of the smaller berries; add 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 2 minutes. Sieve berry mixture. In saucepan combine sugar and cornstarch; stir in sieved berry mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly till thickened and clear. Spread 1/4 cup of glaze over bottom and sides of pie crust. Arrange 1/2 of strawberries stem side down in pastry shell. Cover with half of the glaze then place remaining strawberries atop first layer covering each berry with glaze. Chill pie for at least 3 hours. Garnish with whipped cream if desired.

This was a favorite I would make after a morning of strawberry picking! I think the pickers would eat more then they would collect - great family fun for sure!!
