1-1/4 cup milk
1 pkg. yeast (quick rise)
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 egg yolks (do not use egg whites)
4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk and cool to lukewarm. Use 1/4 c. of the milk to dissolve the yeast.
Add one tsp of sugar, and one tbs flour. Stir and let stand for 10 minutes.
Cream butter, egg yolks, salt and remaining sugar. Combine remaining milk with yeast mixture and add alternately with flour to the creamed mixture.
Knead into a smooth dough. Let rise in place until double in bulk/size.Punch down and let stand 10 minutes. Shape into balls about 1-1/2 inch in diameter. Place on well-greased pan about 2 inches apart. Brush each dough ball with melted butter.
Let rise again until almost double in size. Make a depression in the center of each kolache. Then place one or two tsp of prune / apricot or whatever mixture you like in the center.

Bake in a pre-heated oven at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Brush with butter and sprinkle with sugar if desired.
