Personal Notes:
Since Ray and Louise were not only relatives and neighbors, they were good friends. Our families spent quite a bit of time going back and forth ( remember the dirt roads which were short cuts from place to place?). And of course, food was usually available in the form of meals or just sharing a new recipe. Both my mom and Louise were wonderful cooks as were most of their friends. Later as adults, Louise 's daughter, Pat, and I joked that we thought everyone enjoyed cooking and baking. Exchanging recipes was a part of the culture. We were blessed!
