Pumpkin Ice Cream Pie Recipe

1 pint vanilla ice cream, softened
1 10 pie shell, baked
1 16 oz. can pumpkin
1 cups sugar
tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
tsp ginger
tsp cloves
1 tsp vanilla
1 cups whipping cream

Spread the softened vanilla ice cream in pie shell that has been thoroughly cooled; place in freezer.
Start with pumpkin and mix it with sugar, salt, spices and vanilla. Whip 1 cup whipping cream until stiff and fold into pumpkin mixture. Pour over ice cream; cover with foil and freeze about 4 hours.
At serving time, whip remaining cream; spread around edge of pie. Garnish with nuts if desired.
