Ingredients: Pulled Pork, make your own using Allen Lee's recipe, buy it from your favorite BBQ joint
Cole Slaw -- vinegar base is best -- but whatever is left-over works great, too
Water Bread fried in two as-large-as-you-want-to eat pancakes. If you want you can add a sprinkle of jalapeņo peppers to the batter before frying

Pickles if you want. Dill or bread and butter -- your choice.
One or two forks depending on if you are sharing or saving your leftover for later.

Directions:Fry your Water Bread on a hot skillet. Two round pancakes. The size of small plates. You will know what the right size for you is when you see it.
On one piece of Water Bread, stack a mound of warm pulled pork. A half a pound is probably right but a pound would be good, too.
Add your barbeque sauce -- be careful how much you put on. This could get sloppy.
On top add the cole slaw and pickles.
Top with your other piece of Water Bread.
Let it sit for a couple of minutes to let the cole slaw and barbecue sauce soak into the bread and then eat it with a fork.
Or, don't wait and pick that sandwich up in both hands and eat it like a man. Just watch out for barbeque sauce dribbling down your tee-shirt if you have to go back to work.
This is the best sandwich ever. |

Notes: So the best place, maybe the only place to get Water Bread Barbecue Sandwiches, is Down South BBQ, 19891 County Road 10, Foley, AL just north of Gulf Shores. On the west side of Highway 59. Open 10 am to 6 pm. Closed Sundays and Mondays so don't be disappointed. Only has outside seating on picnic tables -- but it is screened-in so no bugs. also try their sweet tea. The owners opened a road-side BBQ right after Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and have been there ever since. Look up their reviews. Better than Great.
