2 cups shortening
3 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. lemon or vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp. salt
7 cups flour
3 tsp. cream of tarter
3 tsp. baking soda
4 cups raisins or chocolate chips

Mix shortening and sugar well. Add eggs and extract. Mix in dry ingredients. Add chips. Bake 400 for 8-10 min. on ungreased cookie sheets.
