Pound Cake Recipe

2 sticks butter or margarine, softened
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 c. sweet milk

Cream butter and shortening with sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. To the creamed mixture, add alternately the dry ingredients and milk. Beat well. Add vanilla and lemon extracts. Mix well.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 10" tube pan. (The bottom of pan should also be lined with wax paper.)
Put cake in cold oven. DO NOT PREHEAT! Bake at 350 for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
