Pear Walnut Salad Recipe

DRESSING:
1/2 cup oil
6 tbsp. vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. celery seed
1/2 tsp. salt
2 ounces crumbled bleu cheese, if desired
SALAD:
8 c. lettuce (any kind), torn into pieces
2 pears, cored and sliced
1/2 cup walnut halves, toasted

Directions:
Directions:
Shake all dressing ingredients in a glass jar until sugar dissolves. Refrigerate several hours to blend flavors. Arrange pears and walnuts over greens and pour dressing over salad just before serving. Top with bleu chees if desired.

To toast walnuts: Bake on cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

This is one of my favorite salads and it can be halved for a small group. The trick is getting the pears ripe in time.
