1 pound fresh asparagus, preferably the small diameter variety
2 to 3 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 to 3 Tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan or to taste
1 to 2 cloves of fresh minced garlic
Kosher salt
Several grinds black pepper
(if in a hurry, just sprinkle with lemon pepper and garlic salt)

Preheat the broiler to high. Wash asparagus and break where the tough end wants to break off and place on a foil lined flat pan or cookie sheet with an edge.
Toss asparagus with oil, seasonings and parmesan cheese. Place on the cookie sheet and (this can be done up to two hours before dinner.) When broiler is hot, place under the broiler and broil until the cheese begins to bubble and turn brown (about 5 minutes).

I've been told that you can also make this recipe using thinly sliced zucchini (if you like that stuff).
