1/2 c. Crisco©
1 stick margarine, softened
2 c. sugar
5 eggs, separated
2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. coconut
1 c. pecans, chopped
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together Crisco© and margarine; add sugar. Cream well. Add egg yolks; mix well. Add milk alternately with sifted flour and baking soda. Add coconut, pecans, and vanilla. Fold in egg whites, which have been stiffly beaten. Pour into 3 layer pans which have been greased and floured. Bake at 350º for 30 to 35 minutes.
Ice with a cream cheese frosting.
