8 or 9 peaches, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cups sugar ( I use about 3/4-1 cup sugar)
2 T. flour
Pinch salt
1/2 cup butter, melted
Pastry for cobbler ( I double this recipe)
1 cup flour
1/2 t. salt
1/3 cup shortening
4 T. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cook peaches in water until tender. Mix flour, salt and sugar. Add to peaches. Mix. Add melted butter.
For pastry:
Blend flour, salt and shortening to course meal texture. Add milk. Chill. Roll out on floured surface. Cut enough dumplings to cover first layer of peaches. Put peaches in dish. Put on dumplings. Cover with peaches. Cover with lattice top. Bake in 13 x 9 in. dish at 350 degrees for 40 minutes until top is brown.
