Ingredients: 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1.25 oz. packet taco seasoning or homemade one (recipe below) 16 oz. jar of your favorite salsa 1 tsp. flour 1/4 cup water tortillas or taco shells favorite toppings: shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese, etc.
Taco Seasoning Mix: 1 tbsp. chili powder 1/4 tsp. onion powder 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes 1/4 tsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. paprika 1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. black pepper

Directions:Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crock pot. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over chicken. Pour salsa on top. Cook on low (for 6 to 8 hours) or high (for 4 hours). One hour before serving, mix the water and flour together. Add to the chicken. Add additional salt if necessary. When ready to serve, use two forks to shred the chicken. Stir to evenly distribute salsa throughout chicken. Serve immediately with desired toppings. Taco Seasoning Mix: Mix all the seasoning mix ingredients together. Store in a zip lock bag until ready to use. |

Notes: This recipe is so simple and so delicious. Be careful, if you use premade taco seasoning, it can get a bit salty. This homemade seasoning mix has less sodium than normal, so taste the chicken mixture before serving and add any additional salt. You can use the same recipe for pork, just substitute it for the chicken.
