1 C butter
½ C brown sugar
2 egg yolks
1 t vanilla
2 C flour
½ t salt
1 ½ C finely chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 4 ingredients together thoroughly. Sift together the flour and salt and stir into mixture. Roll into 1” balls. Dip in slightly beaten egg whites. Roll in chopped nuts. Place 1” apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 5 minutes at 375. Remove from the oven, and quickly press your thumb into the top of each cookie, creating a well. Return to the oven and bake 8 minutes longer. Cool. Fill the thumbprint with tinted powdered sugar icing.

2T soft butter
1 C powdered sugar
1 T cream
½ t vanilla
Drops of food coloring
