2 c. Flour
1/2 tsp. B. Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
1 1/2 c. uncooked Oatmeal
1 c. Firmly Packed Brown Sugar
3/4 c. Soft Shortening
1 Egg
1 c. Sweetened Applesauce
1/2 c. raisins
Nuts Optional, but a favorite!

Directions:

Cream Shortening, Sugar, and add Egg Beating well.
Mix and sift Flour, B. Soda, Salt, and Spices
Mix dry ingredients with shortening mixture.
Add Applesauce, Oatmeal, Raisins and Nuts.
Stir and Mix well.
Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake @ 350* F. Preheated oven
