Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 c sugar
¼ c water
¼ c cider vinegar
1 - 2 sticks soft butter

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together sugar, water and vinegar in heavy saucepan. Heat sugar syrup until it reaches hard ball stage (260° to 265°). DO NOT stir while it is cooking. Slowly pour syrup onto buttered surface like large cutting board. Be very careful. This is molten mass of hot syrup. DO NOT scrape bowl. Just let whatever candy comes out, come out. Allow candy to cool for few minutes. As soon as syrup is slightly cooled, scrape it into large ball. This is the time to add flavorings like vanilla or peppermint or coloring. Flip ball of candy over several times using some sort of scraper like candy scraper.
When candy is cool enough to handle, gather ball into well-greased hands. Pull candy using both hands as far as possible. Fold pulled part over and repeat. Do this for about 4 to 5 minutes or until candy is getting stiff and has turned beautiful pale color. Once this happens, pull out long rope of candy about ½" thick. Twist for twisted look to candy. Lay ropes out on waxed paper to cool. When thoroughly cooled, break ropes into pieces. Wrap each piece of candy in waxed paper and store in airtight container.
