3 1/2 cups of cake flour( 2 T. Less per cup if regular flour)
4 1/2 tsp. of double action baking powder
2 1/4 cups of sugar
1 1/2 tips.of vanilla
3/4 cup butter
3 eggs and 1 1/2 cups of milk or buttermilk

Sift dry ingredients together. Cream sugar and shortening, add eggs. Add flour and milk alternately. Grease and flour pans two 9 inch cake pans. I line pans with wax or parchment paper. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. Cool in pans 5 minutes and release from pans to cool. When cool ice with butter frosting and enjoy'
