3/4 cup shortening
2 cups sifted flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 cup Brer Rabbit Molasses
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 egg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg; beat well. Sift flour with soda, spices and salt. Add to first mixture. Mix well, then chill til firm. Form into 1 inch balls and roll in granulated sugar to coat, then place on a greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 375º for 8 to 10 minutes.
