Apple Dumplings Recipe

4 apples
2 c Flour
1 tsp Salt
4 tsp Baking Powder
4 tbsp Crisco Shortening
1 c Milk
8 tbsp Sugar
Dash Cinnamon
Dash Nutmeg
8 pats of Butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, salt, baking powder, and Crisco until crumbly. Add milk. Mix to a soft dough - turn on a well floured board. Knead lightly. Divide dough into two parts. Roll each part to about 12" square, cut to make 4 squares. On each piece, slice 1/2 apple, add 1 tbsp sugar, a dash of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg. Top with a pat of butter. Fold the four corners together, Pinch to seal top. Put in 9" x 13" baking dish. Makes 8 dumplings.

Syrup: Add 2 c Sugar to 2 1/2 c boiling water. Sir until sugar dissolves.

Sprinkle dumplings with cinnamon and nutmeg, and dot with butter. Pour boiling syrup over top. Bake @ 450º for 15 mins, then baste with syrup. Reduce heat to 350º and bake for 45 mins or until apples are done.
