Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1/3 cup vegetable shortening
pinch of salt
1/3 cup water
1 1/2 pounds round or sirloin steak, cubed
3 cups potatoes, diced
1/2 cup finely grated carrots
1/4 cup finely grated rutabaga (optional)
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon butter for each pasty
1/4 teaspoon accent

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 475º.
Mix flour, shortening and pinch of salt, mix well. Gradually mix in 1/3 cup water using a fork. Bring together into one ball, divide into smaller balls and roll the dough out to the size of an 8 inch pie tin. Mix cubes of steak, potatoes, carrots, rutabaga and onion in large bowl. Add salt, pepper and accent. Don't let it sit too long or potatoes will start turning dark. Place about 1 cup mixed filling on half of a rolled out crust, top with butter, fold over and seal edges. Brush with milk and bake at 475 for 20 minutes; reduce heat to 375 and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
