2 ½ cups sugar
1 cup white Karo syrup
1 cup butter
¾ cup canned milk

Directions:

Place all ingredients in medium saucepan.
Bring to a boil and add another ¾ cup canned milk
Reduce heat and cook stirring constantly until a crackly hard ball forms in cold water, this is usually about 45 minutes. You must stir constantly. After 30 minutes start dropping caramels into COLD water. They are done when they form a ball , not to hard or you won't be able to chew them.
Add 1 ½ tsp. vanilla
Pour into a greased cookie sheet
Let cool and cut into pieces and wrap in wax paper
