2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 egg whites (beaten until stiff)
3/4 cup nutmeats or candied fruit, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar and water and bring to a boil; add cream of tartar at once. Boil two or three minutes more and add corn syrup. Continue to cook until it forms a soft ball in cold water. Have whites beaten stiff and pour the cooked syrup upon them and beat. Add nutmeats or candied fruit if desired. Drop on waxed paper. Let cool.
