4 cups flour
4 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1/4 cup butter melted
1/4 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease a large baking sheet.
2. In a large bowl, mix together dry ingredients ( flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt). Using a knife or other method cut in the 1/2 cup of margarine till mixed.
3. Stir in 1 cup buttermilk and egg
4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and kneed slightly. Form dough into a round shape and place on the prepared baking sheet.
5. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with 1/4 cup buttermilk and brush on the top of the loaf. Use a sharp knife to cut a X in the top of the loaf.
6. Bake in a preheated oven until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, 30-50 minutes. You may continue to brush the loaf with the butter mixture while it makes a crispy crust.
