1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 oz red food coloring
1/2 to 1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 cups cake four sifted 3 times (measure after sifted the 1st time)
1 1/2 tablespoon soda
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 tablespoon vinegar

Icing
5 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter 1 tablespoon vanilla
Dash of salt

Pre heat oven 350º. Will cook 15-23 minutes cake should be shiny moist don't over cook

Cream together shortening, sugar. Then add eggs. Make a paste with food coloring and cocoa adding this mixture to milk. Separate bowl mix sifted four and salt.
Alternate mixing the milk mixture and flour to the cream mixture.

Mix separately the soda vinegar and vanilla gently fold this into the batter.

Fill 3, 8 inch floured cake pans.
Remove from pans as soon as done baking. Place on wax paper to cool. After frosting cake
should be refrigerated.

Icing
Cook flour and milk until thick. Set aside to cool
Beat butter, sugar, salt and vanilla, add the cooled four mixture until it looks like whip cream
