Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 lb. sliced bacon (use a good quality bacon, not sliced to thin)
½ lb. pitted dates

Directions:
Directions:
Cut bacon slices in half.
Roll a half slice of bacon around one pitted date..
Secure each with a wooden toothpick. (Do NOT use colored toothpicks as the bacon fat will make the dye run off the toothpick.)
Place on broiler sheet pan or cookie sheet with open side of bacon face down, leaving space between them, so they are not touching each other.
Bake at 350º for 30 - 40 minutes or until bacon looks cooked but not quite crispy.
Remove and place on paper towel and blot to absorb any excess grease.
Note: If using a cookie sheet, watch that the bottoms don't burn as they will be siting in the bacon grease while cooking.

Personal Notes:
Folks would always ask what is in the bacon and if I told them "dates," some wouldn't try because they said that they didn't eat dates. So now I tell them, "Just taste it, it's got bacon, how bad an it be." So just serve them and don't tell what's in the bacon until they taste them. Everyone is usually surprised to find out when I tell them after they taste; but always a hit.
