7/8 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp salt

1 cup cornmeal

1 beaten egg
1 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Blend in cornmeal. Make a well in center of dry ingredients and add egg, milk, and vegetable oil that have been combined. Stir only until combined. The batter should be lumpy. Pour into greased 9 inch pan. Bake at 400 degrees F. till the center is seems firm and comes back when gently pressed.
Serve with Rogers Golden Syrup thinned with a little boiling water.
