1 cup shortening, I use the butter shortening
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup choc.chips
1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
salt
Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together & drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º until brown. I usually take them out before they are completely done!

For years this is the cookie that I would always make, but, especially when my brother-in-law, Cal would be coming to visit, because he loved these cookies. So, when I knew he was coming to our home many times I would hide them & tell him I forgot to make some for him & he didn't believe me, so he would go thru like a scavenger hunt looking for the chocolate chip cookies. And he would tell his friends so when they came to our house with him, they would be looking all over the house for the cookies too. So, therefore the name of the cookies became, "Cindy's Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies".
