French Toast Casserole Recipe

4 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
3/4 c light brown sugar
1 loaf French bread, cubed
8 lg eggs, lightly beaten
1 c. whole milk
1 tbsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
pinch sea salt
3/4 c chopped pecans (optional)
powdered sugar and maple syrup

Directions:
Directions:
Combine melted butter and sugar in the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Arrange bread on top.

Whisk eggs and add all remaining ingredients except nuts. Pour over bread and let it soak in. Top with pecans. Cover with plastic wrap. Keep refrigerated over night or at least 3 hours.

Before baking, set our at room temp 20 minutes. Bake at 350º until lightly browned and set, about 35-40 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool slightly if you can wait.

Serve with powdered sugar and maple syrup

I put this together on Christmas Eve. On Christmas morning, I pop it in the oven and it cooks while we open presents. It's Lauren's favorite!
