1 c. flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 t. soda
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1 egg
1 T. butter, melted
1 #2 can sour red pitted cherries, drained (save juice)

Sauce:
1 c. cherry juice
1 T. cornstarch
1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 T. butter
red food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together in order given. Stir in nuts. Mix cherries, beaten egg and melted butter together. Add cherry mixture to dry ingredients. Spread in greased 9" square pan. Bake at 350* for 45 minutes. Cut into squares and top with sauce. Serve warm.

Sauce:
Mix cornstarch, salt and sugar. Add cherry juice, stir smooth. Cook over low flame till thick. Add butter and enough food coloring to give a nice red shade.
