2 eggs, beaten
2 c. sugar
2 t. baking powder
2 c. flour
dash of salt
1 c. milk
1/4 c. butter
1 t. flavoring (vanilla, lemon, or almond)

Maple Butter Frosting:
1 2/3 c. maple syrup
2 egg whites
butternuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Beat eggs and sugar. Combine dry ingredients and add. Bring milk and butter to a boil and pour over mixture. Beat well. Add flavoring. Pour into 9"x13" greased and floured pan. Bake at 350* for about 30 - 40 minutes.

Maple Butter Frosting:
Cook syrup to 238* - 240* or until spins a long thread. Pour over beaten egg whites. Beat until glossy. Spread on cake. Top with chopped butternuts.
