3/4 cups shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and brown sugar, add in egg and molasses until well combined. Sift together dry ingredients and mix with creamed mixture until mixed thoroughly. Chill dough for one hour. Roll into small dough balls, dip in sugar and place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes (do not over bake or it will become hard).
