Ingredients: 1 package yeast 3/4 cup warm water 3/4 cup room temperature beer 3/4 cup olive oil 1 tbsp. fennel seed 1 - 1/2 tsp. salt pinch sugar 4 - 1/2 cup flour

Directions:Mix yeast and warm water until dissolved. Let stand 10 minutes Add the rest of the ingredients and mix into a stiff dough Knead dough until smooth. Place in a greased bowl and cover with a light dish cloth. Let rise in warm spot until doubled. About 1 to 1 - 1/2 hours Punch down and let rest briefly. Tear off a piece of dough about the size of a baseball Roll out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 7" x 12" x 1/4" thick Cut into strip 1/4 inch wide be 7" long. Gently twist each strip and placed on greased baking sheet Brush lightly with an egg wash (1 egg beaten slightly with 2 tbsp. water) Bake at 350º for 20 minutes -turning over half way thru cooking time. Let cool on wire rack |
