Stuffed Green Peppers Recipe

6 green peppers
1 lb. ground beef
1 tablespoon grated onion
⅓ cup finely chopped celery
1 ½ cup cooked rice
1 clove garlic
3 jars chili sauce
Dash of oregano and basil
Salt
Pepper
Onion powder
Bread crumbs

Directions:
Directions:
Wash peppers, cut in half, remove seeds and cut away seed parts, leaving clean shell.

Place peppers in boiling salted water and boil 5-8 minutes or until almost tender. Drain.

Brown beef with onion, garlic and celery until meat is done and vegetables are soft.

Add cooked rice and 2 jars chili sauce.

Fill pepper shells with beef mixture. Before baking, pour chili sauce over stuffed peppers. I usually add a little onion powder and garlic to it and top with bread crumbs.

Bake at 350º for about 20 minutes.

Freezes well. Place peppers on a cookie sheet to freeze. Wrap in plastic wrap and then foil. Thaw and add topping as above and bake.
