1 2/3 C flour
1 C brown sugar
1/4 C cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 C water
1 tsp. vinegar
1/3 C vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º
Mix flour, brown sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in bowl with fork. Stir in water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla completely. Pour into ungreased square pan. Bake about 35-40 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar.

Applesauce Snack Cake:
omit cocoa and vanilla. Stir 1 1/2 teaspoons all-spice into the flour mixture. Reduce water to 1/2 C and stir in 1/2 C applesauce.
