In a big pot, mix:

2C. catsup
2C. water
2C. white vinegar

Heat while adding:

3T black pepper
3T sugar
3T salt
3T chili powder

Mince one medium onion, add and cook sauce until onion is semi-transparent, stirring thoroughly.

I usually cheat the catsup down and the water up and use a little less salt and chili powder than called for.
