2 1/2 Lb Rib Eye Beef, Thinly Sliced
2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
2 tsp Sesame Oil
2 tsp Crushed Garlic
2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp Rice Wine (Sake or Mirin)
Pinch of Black Pepper
1/2 Piece of Fresh Kiwi, Juiced in a Blender (Optional but used as a tenderizer)

Dipping Sauce
1 Tbsp Soybean Paste (Usually found at any Asian market)
2 tsp Crushed Garlic
2 tsp Red Pepper Sauce
1 tsp Vegetable Oil
2 Tbsp Water

Directions:
You can use this for beef, pork and chicken, but traditionally used for beef dishes. Korean style beef is traditionally eaten with white rice and a variety of sides, usually spicy ones. You can also serve it with fresh red leaf lettuce and some spicy fresh peppers to make a bap ssam: Holding the lettuce in your palm, make a wrap that envelopes the barbecued beef, some rice, the dipping sauce and, if desired, other vegetables you like. The beauty of this recipe..once you have mastered it...is that you can experiment with it. In regards to the ingredients, you can add more or less and tweek it however you like.

Trim the fat off the beef with a knife. Distribute the brown sugar evenly on the beef by sprinkling it on each piece. Allow beef to sit for 10 minutes. I preferably use a wide mixing bowl or a big ziploc bag to place the beef in. In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, sugar, rice wine, and black pepper. Set aside. Massage the beef with the kiwi juice using your hands. The kiwi works as a tenderizer. Add the soy sauce mixture and mix. Allow the beef to marinate for 10 more minutes. Since the beef is thin, it doesn't require a long marinating time. *NOTE* I prefer to marinate the beef for at least 6 hours to overnight for maximum flavor. Whoever you feed this to will surely appreciate the effort. Now its is ready (whether you chose to marinate for a little bit or overnight) to BBQ. Ideal if grilled, but just as good in a frying pan, skillet, broiled, or even baked. Cook until browned but be careful not to overcook as it will cook FAST! Lastly prepare the dipping sauce, combine all ingredients and cook over low heat for 15-20 minutes. Serve on the side.
