1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 lb. butter
2 3/4 cups sugar
3 cups Swans Down cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
5 eggs - add 1 at a time and beat thoroughly after each
1tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients thoroughly.

Start in COLD oven.

Bake about 25 minutes at 350º, then reduce heat to 325º or even 300º if you have very hot oven. Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes longer.
