1 stick margarine
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups sifted SR flour
1/2 cup shortening
1/3 cup milk
Fruit - 2 cups fresh blackberries mixed with 1 cup sugar or, 2 cans of peaches in syrup or, 2 cups fresh apples mixed with 1 cup sugar and 1 t. cinnamon.

Heat oven to 350º. Melt margarine in 13 X 9 casserole dish. In saucepan heat water and sugar until sugar melts. Cut shortening into flour until particles are fine crumbs. Add milk and stir with fork only until dough leaves side of bowl. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle more sugar over fruit if fresh and put fruit on dough. Roll like a jelly roll. Seal with fingers and slice. Lay in casserole dish on sides. Pour water and sugar mix over the top of rolls. (Use all of water mixture - will be very soupy.) Bake 55 - 60 minutes.
